Cecilia Lucas, 99, of Lakewood, Wash., died Oct. 31, 2016, at home. Born in Hilo, she a retired registrar for with the State of Hawaii, Department of Health and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Friends may also call at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Homelani Memorial Park graveside committal services. In lieu of monetary gifts to the family, donations may be made to the charity of a choosing.
She is survived by daughter, Noreen Victorine of Lakewood, Wash.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Fujie Kawachika
Fujie Kawachika, 97, of Hilo died Nov. 2, 2016, at the Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born Jan. 11, 1919, in Pepeekeo, she was a member of the Waiakea Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, the proprietress of the former Kawachika Fish Market in Hilo, a pantry helper at the former K.K. Tei Restaurant and a flower arranger at Orchids of Hawaii.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Nov. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo with a 10 a.m. service. Casual attire is requested.
She is survived by daughters, Hatsumi Yoshimura of Honolulu, Ellen Kawachika, Connie Kawachika, both of Hilo; sons, Thomas Kawachika of Las Vegas, Robert (Jean) Kawachika of Hilo; sisters, Miyoko Marumoto of Honolulu and Sachie (Arthur) Murata of Holualoa; brothers, Tsuneo (Shizuko) Oshita, Hitoshi Oshita, Edward (Soon Hee) Oshita, all of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Samuel Acacio
Samuel Flores Acacio, 90, of Kapaau died Nov. 6, 2016, at his residence. Born April 8, 1926, in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired cook for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, and a member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Kapaau.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at the family residence, 53-4198 Akoni Pule Highway for an all-night vigil. Visitation will be from 8-10 a.m. Nov. 19 at St. Augustine Episcopal Church with a 10 a.m. funeral service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed.
He is survived by wife, Pacita Acacio of Kapaau; daughters, Judena (Andres) Sumaoang of Honolulu, Jean Acacio and Piilani (Robert Jr.) Fernandez of of Kohala, Floribel (Gale) Acacio of Florida and Daisy (William) Hue of Hilo; sons, Francisco (Susan) Acacio of Waimea, Justin Acacio of Maryland, Samuel Acacio Jr. of Las Vegas, Jose Acacio of Wisconsin; sister, Natividad (Claudio) Duarte of Philippines; 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Robert Sumiki
Robert “Bobby” Shigemi Sumiki, 74, of Hilo died Nov. 1, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born June 1, 1942, in Hilo, he was a retired construction worker, an Army veteran, and also served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. A graveside committal service and burial are planned at 9 a.m. Nov. 19 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Althea Perreira Sumiki of Hilo; son, Greg (Wynette) Sumiki of Keaau; stepdaughter, Tiana (Ian) Kalawe-Davalos of Pleasanton, Calif.; brothers, Jitsuo Sumiki and Satoshi (Luana) Sumiki of Hilo; sisters, Rhoda Sumiki and Dale (Dennis) Kunimitsu of Honolulu; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sam Au Hoy
Sam “Coach Sam” Tai Tim Kamuela Yamato Au Hoy, 84, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 31, 2016, at his residence. Born Aug. 7, 1932, in Haleiwa, Oahu, he was a courier for Clinical Labs of Hawaii, a lauhala weaver, former dispatcher for Kona Trans, a manager and coffee farmer for Ranch 99 in Holualoa, a radio controller for Aeronautical Radio Inc., a Pop Warner and Konawaena High School football coach and a Coast Guard veteran.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at Hulihee Palace. Condolences may be sent to the family at P.O. Box 622, Holualoa, HI 96725-0622.
He is survived by wife, Fanny Collins Au Hoy of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Henrietta Plomer, Violet-Lei (Rob) Alesna, all of Kailua, Oahu, Leslie Sissy Au Hoy of Seattle; son, Sam (Jan) Au Hoy III of Amarillo, Texas; sisters, Vivien (Otto) Joao of Molokai, Jeanette Morgan of Kailua-Kona, Sylvia Adams of Molokai; brother, Malcolm (Barbara) Au Hoy of California; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph Glory Sr., 72, of Kohala died Nov. 2, 2016, at Kohala Hospital. Born in Kohala, he was a retired truck driver for Hilo Products, Inc., formerly employed with James H. Luke &Sons, Inc. and the former Kohala Sugar Co., member of Landmark Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Friends may call from 9–11:30 a.m. Nov. 19 at the Landmark Baptist Church in Kapaau, Kohala. A celebration of his life will take place at 11:30. Burial to follow at the Hawi County Cemetery. Casual attire.
